Challenge

Catalogues with Interoperable API

Introduction
Purple Polar Bear helps organizations work better with their data. In this project, we helped the Municipality of The Hague take the next step in discoverable, federated data sharing.

The result: easier access to data, across systems and organizations, using open standards.
The Challenge
Municipal data is often locked away in different catalogues and platforms. Finding the right dataset can be hard—especially when it’s unclear where to start.

Goal: Enable federated search across catalogues, so users can always find what they need, regardless of where they begin.
What we built
✔ OGC API Records for The Hague’s internal data catalogues
✔ Fully aligned with DCAT-AP-NL 3.0
✔ Live integration: updates in the source? The API updates too.
✔ Federated search demo across multiple catalogues
✔ No static files – it’s all dynamic and real-time
Why this matters?
No wrong door: Start anywhere, find the right data.
Real-life test: Proven in an operational municipal platform.
Reusable & Open: Source code and documentation available for everyone.
